Are you new to RSS? Step into a welcoming space to find new interests, meet people, and have fun. Discover the joy of shared experiences and build lasting friendships. All programs and services are available free of charge to individuals 60 and over. You'll find us in the Bronx, New York, online and in the community.

For over fifty years, RSS has championed older adults and their friends and families by helping community members live more fulfilling, joyful, and healthy lives.  Today, we are reimagining and revitalizing RSS—enhancing programs, welcoming new leadership, and building a stronger foundation for the future. With a bold vision in place, we’re committed to growing our impact and ensuring that every older adult in our community feels seen, supported, and empowered.

Our services include:

  • A wide array of programs, classes, and events are offered in the center, through our community partners, and online.

  • Social services support includes benefits assistance and individual counseling.

  • Fulfilling volunteer opportunities available with RSS.

  • Technology support is available in classes at the Center, online, and through personalized one-on-one sessions.

  • Weekly trips in NYC, including visits to museums, shopping centers, and restaurants.

  • The RSS Adult Day Center for Memory Loss - the only program in the Bronx overseen by the NYC Aging Department. An essential service for those with memory loss and their families and caregivers.

Watercolor with April (ONLINE)

This weekly ongoing class covers watercolor techniques, drawing, color, design, and art history. Every lesson is designed to accomodate the beginner through the advanced watercolor artist by offering different levels of approach. The online zoom platform allows for a large group of participants to clearly see the slide presentation of art examples and the watercolor lesson demonstration. Participants are invited to show their works in progress and receive individualized feedback to encourage the development of a personal style.
You can use other materials besides watercolor during the class.

The course is free and open to anyone 60+.

NOTES
1. You only need to register ONCE for the class. You will get a link sent weekly.
2. Do not forward the zoom link, please ask anyone to register for the class.

Supplies for Watercolor Class
You can go with the simplest supplies (an inexpensive set of watercolors with a couple of brushes and paper you can purchase at your local drugstore).
