Holocaust Remembrance Program: Music with Cheryl Warfield and Presentation with Sharon Wolfe (Hybrid)

In commemorating Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day there will be an art lecture by Sharon Wolfe and a musical performance by Cheryl Warfield and company.

Sharon Wolfe will present the life story of William “Willie” Bernheim, Holocaust survivor/jewelry designer/artist. Originally from Lodz, Poland, William Bernheim survived imprisonment in the Lodz ghetto and Buchenwald concentration camp. After immigrating to the US, he built and ran a successful jewelry design company. Later in life, he began studying painting. His paintings depict his and his generation’s harrowing experiences during the Holocaust. Sharon will illustrate her presentation with slides of select artwork by Mr. Bernheim from his Holocaust collection. Sharon Wolfe is a retired social worker who directed JASA Van Cortlandt Senior Center from 2005 – 2022. She has read numerous Holocaust memoirs and novels. She derives hope and inspiration from the author’s or protagonist’s determination, will to survive and resilience. Sharon also enjoys WWII films and dramas, cooking and singing.
